Monday July 14th The city of Paris shut down for Holiday! Like our fourth of July Parisians celebrate the storming of the Bastille and the beginning of the Republic! Elisabeth and I didn’t want to miss any of the festivities, especially since they were all in our area!! So we woke up early on Monday morning and headed to the Champs Elysees to catch the parade. Which was basically a display of military and their artillery. But we also caught a glimpse of the new French President as he rode by in his convertible waving at us all.

As did hundreds of tanks and armed cars.
After the Parade we took our time and walked back to our house, stopping to eat Burgers and drink wine on the way back. When we got home, boy did we conk out! We both dozed off unexpectedly for over 2 hours! When we woke up we still had 5 hours before the fireworks were to begin so we lounged around some more and watched some movies. Once it started to get dark we walked down to the bridge closest to us to watch the fireworks set off on the Trocadero. WOW!!! What an amazing sight! Fireworks set to beautiful Opera arias…could anything sound more divine?
